Omiso oatmeal
As mentioned in the Bon Appétit article about miso, I swear by a savory miso oatmeal. Here's an easy recipe that requires just 3 ingredients: oats, water, and 1 Omiso soup ball. Scallions optional.
Ingredients
½ c oats
1 c water (or ½ c water + ½ c almond milk)
(Ai's favorite version is made with rolled oats, cooked to be slightly crunchy.)1 Omiso soup ball (from the 5pc gift box, the 3pc gift box, or the 5pc deli pack)
1-2 tsp chopped scallions (optional)
Directions
Cook oats in water for 4-6 minutes at medium to low heat. For creamier oatmeal, use half water + half almond milk. (My favorite version is made with rolled oats, cooked to be slightly crunchy.)
Remove pan from heat.
Add Omiso ball in any flavor.
Break up the ball with chopsticks or a fork, blending it into the cooked oats.
Transfer oatmeal to a serving bowl and top with scallions as you wish. Breakfast is served :)
