Shun-giku no goma-ae

File_002 (2).jpeg

Last Sunday, we got fresh shungiku (a.k.a. Chrysanthemum greens) from Yasutomi Farms at the Hollywood Farmers Market and cooked up a simple goma-ae, finished with our Yuzu Shio Koji. As with all of our recipes, this one comes together in minutes and is perfect for one. Double it for two.

Ingredients

  • large bunch shungiku

  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil

  • ½ Tbsp Yuzu Shio Koji

  • ½ Tbsp sesame seeds

Directions

  1. Blanch a large bunch of shungiku in a pot of boiling water for 40 seconds to 1 minute.

  2. Cool the greens down in a bowl of cold water.

  3. Separately, mix sesame oil, Yuzu Shio Koji, and sesame seeds in a small dish.

  4. Cut the cooled shungiku into strips about 2" long, and dress with the mixture from step 3.
